41,000 applicants vie for admission in Jharkhand govt schools of excellence

The Jharkhand government has announced that around 10,590 students have been selected for admission to the 80 government-run Schools of Excellence (SoEs) out of over 41,000 applicants.

This initiative, inaugurated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, aims to provide quality English-medium education on par with private schools.

SUCCESSFUL ADMISSIONS IN SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Secretariat, out of the available 11,936 seats, 10,590 students have secured admissions to classes one, six, and nine in the Schools of Excellence.

This response exceeded expectations, surpassing the total number of seats by 345 percent.

GOVERNMENT'S INITIATIVE FOR QUALITY EDUCATION

The establishment of these 80 institutes is part of the Jharkhand government's comprehensive plan to provide quality education to 15 lakh children studying in government schools.

Additionally, the government plans to set up 325 block-level schools and 4,091 gram panchayat-level model schools in the second phase of this educational reform.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND DIVERSE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Students enrolled in the Schools of Excellence will receive not only academic education but also vocational training in 11 different trades.

The government has announced that these trades will include agriculture, IT, ITES, apparel and make-up, home furnishing, media and entertainment, automotive, tourism and hospitality, beauty and wellness, multi-skilling, electronics and hardware, retail, and healthcare.

This comprehensive approach will equip students with practical skills and enhance their employability.

BUILDING FUTURE LEADERS

To ensure the success of the Schools of Excellence, principals of these institutions underwent online training provided by the National Center for School Leadership in two phases.

This training will empower them to effectively lead and manage these schools, fostering an environment conducive to holistic development and academic excellence.

This milestone achievement in the field of education reflects the government's commitment to providing equal opportunities for all students. The Schools of Excellence aim to bridge the gap between private and government schools, ensuring that students receive a quality education that prepares them for a brighter future.
